Greetings!

As what we call winter here in the South drags on, it’s often easy for me to complain about the weather. It only takes a look at the forecast for the upper Midwest or New England for me to I realize that we have it pretty good down here. Likewise, we often fall into dissatisfaction with some situation in our lives when things don’t go our way. If we could hear a report about the troubles that some folks in our community are experiencing then our lives wouldn’t seem so bad. Serving those in need helps us to fulfill the Lord’s command and Mount Pisgah’s Community Outreach Ministry seeks to provide opportunities for God’s people to serve in His name.

Psalm 41:1 says, “Happy is one who cares for the poor; the LORD will save him in a day of adversity.” May our Lord fill you with His grace, love and compassion as we seek to do His work here on earth.

Read on to find out about several ways you can serve the Lord by serving others this month.

OUTREACH OF THE MONTH

Food Drive for NFCC

Mount Pisgah will collect groceries during the month of February to help restock the food pantry. The families served by North Fulton Community Charities rely on them to help with groceries. NFCC relies on Mount Pisgah to be an active community partner and help restore the supply of food.

Please pick up an extra bag of groceries next time you are at Kroger or Publix and bring that with you when you come to church. You may put your food donations in the Outreach Collection carts located on North and South Campuses.

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. Proverbs 22:9

GOOD SAMARITAN FUND

Helping Those in Need

The Mount Pisgah Good Samaritan Fund serves church members who are facing an immediate financial emergency and have exhausted other personal sources of financial aid. The fund is used to help pay for rent, utilities, groceries and, especially in these times of high fuel costs, gas for the car.

At the present time, the GSF is extremely short on funds. God often provides for the needs of His people through the caring acts of others. Please consider a gift to the Good Samaritan Fund over and above your regular church giving. Your gift can be placed in the Sunday offering plate or mailed to the Office of Community Outreach, Mount Pisgah UMC, 9820 Nesbit Ferry Rd., Alpharetta, GA 30022. Please write Good Samaritan Fund on the memo line of your check. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10

SECOND WIND DREAMS

Fulfilling Dreams for Seniors

Second Wind Dreams is a national non-profit organization with the goal of bringing seniors to the forefront of our society to help them feel special. This group focuses on those living in eldercare communities who most need our assistance. Family support may be non-existent, money can be a premium especially for Medicaid supported seniors and these seniors are often the frailest – the ones who need a dream fulfilled.

Second Wind Dreams will hold their Fifth Annual Dream Luncheon at Mount Pisgah on Friday, March 2, 2007 from 11:30am-1:00pm. This event will not only raise funds for the agency but also raise awareness of their program and its benefit to senior adults. Please contact the Community Outreach Office if you would like to reserve a seat at Mount Pisgah’s table at this event. If you would like to sponsor a table for a group you may contact Second Wind Dreams directly at 678- 234-1627 or mary@secondwind.org.
